Bloom Institute of Technology (BloomTech) is looking for part-time data science professionals to teach in an immersive, live, online classroom. Courses are offered throughout the week, and you can choose the times that work for your schedule. You can expect to commit up to 15-20 hours per week.

You will focus on teaching our Data Engineering course. In this role, you'll instruct learners on how to interact and work with software engineers, derive insights from raw data using SQL, NoSQL, and other databases, and what the cloud is and how to deploy it during productization.

What you will be doing

  • Teaching on Zoom via live code-along, explaining complex concepts simply, using real-life examples, exercises, and storytelling
  • Providing learner support, encouraging struggling learners, and challenging those who are excelling
  • Providing curriculum feedback and reporting learner progress

What you will NOT be doing

  • Managing other instructors or teaching assistants
  • Only tutoring students - your professional expertise forms the foundation of teaching the relevant technical skills required for success in the real world.
  • Traveling for conferences, meetings, or training; we are a 100% remote team.

Key responsibilities

Pass on your technical expertise to train data scientists and analysts ready to start new careers

Candidate requirements

  • One of the following combinations of education and industry experience:
    • A Bachelor's degree + 3 years of software industry experience
    • A coding boot camp certificate that required at least 900 hours + 4 years of software industry experience
    • A high school diploma/GED + 5 years of software industry experience
  • Specific experience in Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, etc.
  • Excited to provide engaging, live online courses to adult students
  • Availability at 9 AM, 2 PM, 3 PM, and/or 6 PM PST
  • Reliable internet connection - at least 6 Mpbs upload speed  

Nice to have

  • Experience teaching or mentoring new learners
