Founder-in-Residence   $400,000 USD/year

Description

Have you seen the impossible choices young athletes and their families face between academic excellence and athletic development? That brutal 5AM practice schedule, homework crammed into car rides, and the constant pressure to sacrifice one passion for another?

We believe it's time to stop asking kids to choose. We’re building a school that gets core academics done by lunch, freeing afternoons for serious athletic development. But this isn't just about time management—it's about recognizing that sports are one of the most powerful vehicles we have for building tomorrow's leaders.

We’ve launched the first model campus in Austin. Now we’re looking for a founder—not a theorist or a “coach with a great network,” but someone who has built and scaled a high-stakes venture from the ground up. Your mission: take a school that already works and transform it into a national model that families clamor to be part of. Make the Austin flagship so compelling it has a waitlist, a cult following, and a demand signal that makes expansion inevitable.

Then, turn that signal into a system. Codify the experience, build scalable operations, and lead the evangelism that makes this movement spread. If you’ve built a venture before, know what scale actually takes, and believe in the transformative power of youth sports—this is your next mission.

What you will be doing

  • Elevating our Austin flagship into a world-class showcase of academic and athletic excellence
  • Designing the systems, standards, staff, and space needed to replicate success across new campuses
  • Leading a team that delivers not just sports training, but leadership and life-skills development
  • Creating buzz and building relationships that generate demand far beyond Austin
  • Becoming the public face of the model and inspiring families to become part of something bigger

What you will NOT be doing

  • Managing academic curriculum or instructional staff—the 2 Hour Learning team owns that
  • Acting as a traditional school administrator focused on compliance and oversight
  • Promoting one-dimensional athletic achievement at the expense of character or academics
  • Optimizing a legacy system—this is about building, proving, and scaling something new
  • Chasing local success without building toward national expansion

Key responsibilities

Transform our early-stage flagship into a high-demand, nationally replicable model that eliminates the academic-vs-athletics trade-off—and leads a movement to redefine what education looks like for tomorrow’s leaders.

Candidate requirements

  • Built and scaled a venture from scratch—especially one involving operations, education, or physical delivery
  • Deep belief in the role of athletics as a platform for leadership, growth, and life preparation
  • Track record of executing under pressure and making smart, fast decisions in ambiguous conditions
  • Charismatic communicator and public evangelist with a bias for action
  • Skilled at creating structure from chaos and leading others through it
  • Active user of AI tools to drive insight, output, and operational leverage
  • Based in the U.S., with ability to travel regularly to Austin (minimum 1 week/month)
  • Eligible to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship
