DevOps Architect   $100,000 USD/year

Description

If you're a DevOps engineer who relishes the challenge of transforming chaotic infrastructure into a seamless, automated powerhouse, this is the role for you. We need an AWS and DevOps virtuoso who thrives on ensuring systems are not just operational, but optimized for peak performance. This role involves harmonizing a collection of diverse products into a unified, efficient AWS ecosystem, complete with innovative monitoring and automation strategies that minimize incidents.

Unlike typical roles that focus on a single tech stack, you'll have the opportunity to merge and enhance multiple systems without causing disruption. Rather than isolating databases, you'll strategically consolidate them to maximize cost-efficiency and manageability across our portfolio. This isn't about maintaining what's already there; it's about envisioning and crafting a superior environment from a fragmented one.

You'll be at the helm of infrastructure migrations, AI-driven automation, performance tuning, database transitions, and cost management. This involves diagnosing and resolving issues, orchestrating seamless cloud migrations with minimal downtime, and leveraging AI/ML to automate significant portions of your role. You'll wield genuine decision-making power regarding infrastructure choices, bypassing the need for approvals from those less in-the-know.

If you're a self-reliant problem-solver who delights in streamlining complex systems for flawless performance, you'll thrive here. However, if you require constant guidance, feel overwhelmed by multiple tech stacks, or prefer starting from scratch rather than refining chaos, this may not be the fit for you. If you're ready to take charge of a high-impact infrastructure position with the freedom to build, streamline, and automate on a grand scale, we want to hear from you!

What you will be doing

  • Strategically planning and executing intricate infrastructure transformations, including migrating legacy systems to AWS and conducting lift-and-shift migrations.
  • Creating and implementing comprehensive monitoring strategies and developing automations for software deployment and operational processes.
  • Managing system oversight, backups, incident responses, database migrations, configuration, and optimizing costs.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Spending your days in Jira and endless status meetings - we prioritize solution-driven individuals over problem trackers.
  • Being stuck indefinitely with outdated systems - you'll have the power to drive significant enhancements.
  • Getting bogged down in bureaucratic approval processes - you'll have the authority to enact immediate fixes to resolve issues.
  • Finding yourself entrenched in narrow technical silos - this role demands both breadth and depth of expertise.
  • Struggling to secure budget for essential infrastructure improvements - we value and invest in our infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

  • Enhance reliability and standardize cloud infrastructure across our expanding product portfolio through effective monitoring, automation, and adherence to AWS best practices.

Candidate requirements

  • Extensive expertise in AWS infrastructure (our primary platform - experience with other clouds alone isn't enough).
  • Proficient programming skills in Python or JavaScript for crafting automation and tooling solutions.
  • Experience in managing and migrating production databases across various engines (including MySql, Postgres, Oracle, MS-SQL).
  • Proven experience in implementing comprehensive monitoring solutions.
  • Proficiency in infrastructure automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation).
  • Advanced Linux systems administration skills.
