Description

You know kids need more than an academic education to be successful. You’re frustrated by how educational research, technological tools, & business insights rarely get applied to curriculum and learning design. You’re ready to do more than reform the education system. You want to completely disrupt the way education for gifted & talented students works.

GT School believes gifted & talented (GT) students are capable of performing at the highest level academically, and we want to ensure they have the core skills to succeed in life. Skills like grit, determination, and time management are essential! We are developing GT students who are capable of leading, collaborating, and learning at the highest standards in every area of their lives.

We are building a team of aggressively open-minded, rule-breaking, entrepreneurial leaders to define the life skills curriculum for US K-12 students.  You will spend the day creating (not delegating) and debating what kids really need to know to succeed and be happy in life. You’ll then build fully remote workshops where kids can learn and demonstrate their mastery of each skill. And you’ll do this at scale - ensuring 10,000 kids can learn at the same time and to the same high standards.

This isn’t the role for traditional educators. We aren’t leveling the playing field or making sure everyone wins. We aren’t building a curriculum filled with academic exercises or group work. This role will require you to deeply understand various life skills and their practical application.

We’re looking for people with experience building remote training programs and developing EdTech products, with a strong point of view on which skills kids need to succeed in life. If this sounds like a challenge that’s perfect for you, apply today!

What you will be doing

  • Identifying the life skills students need to learn, deconstructing these broad, vague terms into specific, concrete skills to master
  • Finding or creating a curriculum that passes rigorous evaluation standards and adapting it for a remote learning environment
  • Creating innovative, real-world scenarios where students can demonstrate their mastery of each component skill

What you will NOT be doing

  • Delivering the life skills program yourself - we believe learning works best when it’s self-paced and student-led.
  • Developing a series of lectures, readings, or videos - we believe learning happens through hands-on activities that are so fun kids forget they’re learning!
  • Designing a program where everyone can succeed on the first try - we believe kids value challenges as much as adults do, so you’ll design assessments that have high quality standards and allow kids to fail forward.

Key responsibilities

Ensure GT School students master the life skills necessary for success.

Candidate requirements

  • Possess a college degree (Bachelors of Art / Science or equivalent) in any subject
  • 3+ years of experience designing digital trainings or building products in an EdTech environment
  • Passion for life skills education
  • Personal experience with the needs and motivations of gifted & talented students - either you were one, are raising one, or have extensive professional experience working with this population
