VP of SaaS Operations   $200,000 USD/year

Description

The SaaS industry has a dirty secret: operations don't scale. A traditional VP SaaS Ops manages 1-3 products with linear headcount growth; more products = proportional team size. Trilogy is proving the opposite. We acquire one SaaS company per month and operate 47+ products (growing to 100+) with sublinear team growth, proving operations can scale through 80-90% automation instead of headcount.

This isn't keep-the-lights-on operations. You'll execute the operational work that enables 12 acquisitions per year. This is not a corporate IT or infrastructure management role. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who has built and owned SaaS Ops at a SaaS company, not just been part of the team. The ideal candidate is a technical expert and a leader, someone who thrives on designing scalable operational frameworks, integrating automation, and making high-stakes operational decisions. You’ll be responsible for defining the future of SaaS Ops across a diverse portfolio of SaaS businesses, ensuring seamless product integrations, and applying AI to create an automated, highly efficient operations engine.

You’ll work alongside world-class peers across Engineering, Product, and C-Suite leadership to shape and execute this vision. If you have strong opinions on how SaaS Ops should be run, love the challenge of optimizing multi-product environments, and are excited to be on the cutting edge of AI-driven operations, this is the role for you.

What you will be doing

  • Onboard newly acquired SaaS product into standardized Ops framework: deploy infrastructure-as-code, integrate observability stack, define SLOs, implement cost tagging, and create runbooks.
  • Analyze AWS cost changes at product level, attribute to root cause (change request, workload variation, pricing change, waste), document in Cost Change Registry.
  • Convert deterministic L2 operational runbooks into automated workflows (Python/Go/IaC/AI-assisted).
  • Monitor uptime, MTTR, MTTD against SLOs per product; escalate breaches with incident analysis and corrective action plan.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Overseeing the manual toil and tedium of traditional SaaS Ops; your focus will be on automation and AI-driven innovation
  • Managing operations for a single product; you'll be mastering complexity across hundreds of products in our SaaS portfolio
  • Settling for the status quo; you'll be expected to disrupt and redefine operations leveraging AI technologies

Key responsibilities

  • Own a highly efficient, AI-powered SaaS Ops function that ensures exceptional reliability, cost optimization, and seamless operations for a growing portfolio of acquired SaaS businesses

Candidate requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience managing and owning SaaS Ops supporting enterprise customers
  • Experience holding personal accountability for MTTR/MTTD and incident response
  • Experience owning AWS budget targets for at least one SaaS product or portfolio
  • Experience applying AI and automation technologies to SaaS operations (i.e., you've implemented at least one AI-assisted operational workflow - AIOps, predictive alerting, automated remediation, cost optimization ML - that reduced manual operational work)
  • Infrastructure-as-Code proficiency with Terraform/CloudFormation including state management and CI/CD integration
  • AWS platform expertise across EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, CloudWatch, VPC, IAM, cost structure, and multi-AZ reliability patterns
  • Scripting and automation proficiency in Python/Go/Bash with error handling, retry logic, comprehensive logging, and AWS SDK integration
