Description

You’re not here to flood inboxes with press releases. You’re here to build relationships that matter and place stories that change minds. If you’re the kind of media strategist who understands the power of a well-timed pitch to the right person — and how earned coverage shapes public opinion — this role was built for you.

At 2 Hour Learning, we’re transforming education by proving that kids can learn 2x faster in just 2 hours a day. Our schools aren’t run by teachers but by Guides, and our students leave each day with not just academic mastery, but time for life. We’ve seen the results: top 1% test scores, thriving students, and parents who finally believe school works. Now, we need the right person to tell that story at scale.

This role is your chance to shape the public narrative of an emerging educational model that works. You’ll work directly with our founder, MacKenzie Price, to craft and deliver strategic pitches that capture our essence: innovative, rigorous, and radically student-centered. We’re not chasing vanity metrics. We’re pursuing influence. If you’ve got the instincts of a journalist, the persistence of a publicist, and the heart of an educator, let’s talk.

What you will be doing

  • Pitching original, mission-aligned stories to national and regional media contacts in education, innovation, and human interest.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with key journalists, editors, and producers who can authentically tell our story.
  • Packaging data, student outcomes, and thought leadership into media-friendly assets that cut through the noise.
  • Collaborating with leadership to surface timely, compelling narratives aligned with our strategic goals.
  • Monitoring and managing brand alignment across earned media, refining pitches based on resonance and feedback.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Sending mass emails to outdated media lists hoping something sticks.
  • Over-hyping AI buzzwords or leaning into “robot school” clichés — this isn’t a tech PR job.
  • Waiting around for news to happen; your job is to make the story.
  • Settling for superficial mentions or clickbait that misrepresents our work.

Key responsibilities

Own and execute a media relations strategy that builds national awareness and credibility for 2 Hour Learning by securing high-impact earned media coverage.

Candidate requirements

  • 5+ years in PR, journalism, or media relations with proven success placing stories in national or regional outlets.
  • Experience building and managing direct relationships with media professionals.
  • Exceptional writing skills and the ability to craft pitches that resonate across beats.
  • Strong understanding of media cycles, editorial decision-making, and what makes a story newsworthy.
  • Passion for education innovation and the ability to translate complex ideas into compelling narratives.
  • Located in the US and eligible to work without visa sponsorship
